Lappa plans extensive tree planting |

An important part of Lappa's program is reforestation of the Scarlet Macaw's habitat. This year the tree planting will be based in 3 local elementary schools and Tarcoles high school. The students will help maintain the tree nurseries, and later plant the seedlings. The project will focus on species that the Scarlet Macaw uses for food and nesting. Past research has told us which trees the macaw relies on. The program will start in the wet season, which is when most trees naturally seed. Trees will be planted on private land.
